P2P International Residencies: 2025 Australia-Taiwan Residency

Program Overview:
The P2P 2025 Australia-Taiwan Residency returns for its second year, deepening the collaboration between Melbourne's Pseudo and Taipei's NAXS Studio. Studio friends and creative collaborators for years now, Pseudo and NAXS have developed this cross-studio network to bring together emerging artists in New Media from both countries, selecting two artists—one from Taiwan, one from Australia—for an international exchange.

Each artist will spend two weeks in both Taipei and Melbourne, creating work within NAXS and Pseudo’s studio communities. P2P is designed around artists supporting one another, cultivating lasting networks, fostering the development and exchange of resources within the evolving landscape of New Media art in the Asia-Pacific region.
Eligibility:
- Artists with a New Media or technological practice. Including but not limited to: expanded animation and film, game design, creative coding, interactive/immersive media art, experimental sound and music, performance art.
- Applicant must be an individual (not a collective)
- Applicant must be an Australian-based artist
- First Nations and cultural and linguistically diverse applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
Residency Details:
- Exchange Locations and Dates: NAXS STUDIO (Taipei) & PSEUDO (Melbourne)
- Sep 29 - Oct 24, 2025 (Optional extension can be discussed with successful applicant)
- Two weeks each in Taipei and Melbourne, with 2 week cross over in each city

Dual Residency:
- Each selected artist will engage in a comprehensive four-week experience, divided into two distinct phases:
- Two weeks at NAXS studio in Taipei
- Two weeks with PSEUDO collective in Melbourne
- Australian based artists can only apply via Pseudo links
​
Schedule:- Australian residency period in Melbourne is Sep 29 - Oct. 10 (Australian residency period does not require full time hours)
- International residency period in Taipei is Oct 13 - 24.
- The residency period at pseudo studio in Brunswick can be extended by negotiation
​
Participant Selection:
The initiative will carefully select two artists - one from Taiwan and one from Australia - to participate in this unique exchange program.

Provided Resources:
- Desk at shared studio space
- Equipment (motion capture systems, LIDAR cameras, projectors, etc.)
- Technical support
- Professional knowledge and creative consultation
- An opportunity to share your practice to local presenters and artists through one-day open studio event (optional but encouraged)

Funding support and details:
- Selected artist will receive a subsidy of $3,800 AUD for their exchange time in Taiwan.
- Note, this fee is all inclusive. The selected artist will be required to purchase their own flights and accommodation in Taipei.

- Submission Materials : Expression of Interest (EOI). Please fill out EOI form here
- Submission Period : From now until July 31, 18:00 Melbourne Time. Please fill out all required fields in the EOI form

Selection Criteria:
Note -The EOI is designed for quick response and turnaround - we are not requesting a lengthy application from artists due to the nature of this opportunity.
- Suitability of the artist’s practice for the resources provided.
- Artistic excellence of their proposed project.
- How the proposed project contributes to the flourishing of New Media Arts in Australia and Taiwan.
- Impact of the residency on the artist’s practice.
Review Process:
Based on their applications, applicants will be shortlisted by a joint review process by both studios. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by pseudo and NAXS on Friday 08 August. The successful application will be notified on Tuesday 13 August.
Accessibility
We will endeavor to support your access requirements to participate in this residency. Unfortunately, NAXS’ studio in Taiwan is only accessible by two flights of stairs. If this excludes you from being able to participate in the residency, please get in touch.
