Lu Yang’s dizzying virtual world is a neon dreamscape lurking in our networks. Exploring digital voyeurism and online cultures, DELUSIONAL WORLD summons audiences to our new online gallery to encounter a frenetic collision of Chinese mythology, sci-fi futures and live performance.
This free mind-bending, hyper-pop performance features a contemporary dancer fitted with motion capture technology, who projects fantastical digital avatars of the artist that materialise as deranged deities, Manga-inspired mutants and cyborgs.

YANDELL WALTON,
ECOLOGICAL ADAPTATION
a research and development project undertaken by Yandell Walton with Harrison Hall, Liam Wolfe and Sarah Aiken.
Supported by Australia Council for the Arts New Work Grant, Creative Victoria Arts Grant, City of Melbourne, Platform Arts Geelong and Chunky Move Minimax Residency
"Ecological Adaptation" is a transdisciplinary installation that explores the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the potential for hybridity between the two. The installation consists of large movable LED screens that display a virtual world of 3D modelled plant life, which is brought to life through the movements of human bodies. The dancer's movements are captured using motion capture technology, and the data is then applied to the 3D models, resulting in a seamless fusion of the organic and the digital.

PLAGIARY
Plagiary is a dance and theatre performance experiment that employs CHAT-GPT as a speaking choreographer and playwright who generates an entirely new show before your eyes in collaboration with live contemporary dance improvisors. Plagiary is constructed by multi award winning dance technologist and choreographer Alisdair Macindoe, who has explored Ai computer generated dance instruction since 2019. Working with acclaimed media artist Sam Mcgilp, Plagiary explores entire visual worlds made with Ai that are bespoke to each performance. Updating the contemporary dance format, Plagiary opens a space to deepen our knowledge of embodiment in the age of Ai. At at time when we are questioning our relevance as a species, Plagiary champions the human body, platforming our natural form as one of the final sites untouched by artificial intelligence.

Investigating themes of cybernetics and the digitisation of human identities, Lu Yang questions the relationship between our IRL and URL selves. In an online era where our minds are allowed to flow freely through networks, do our physical bodies still matter?
DOKU is the digital reincarnation of the artist Lu Yang. Based on the cycle of Karma in Buddhism, DOKU has six costumes which represent the six divisions of the wheel of Karma: Tenjin Road, Shura Road, Animal Road, Hungry Ghost Road, Hell Road, and Human World. The performance will take the audience through these Karmic cycles, as DOKU lives and dies in each virtual Buddhist environment.
